Diamonds - My Profession, View & Knowledge

Hello Friends! After a good response to my last blog on Mobile Phones I would like to thank you all for the support. Please do comment later after reading this blog as it encourages me to improve my blogs.

Diamonds are graded into 4 C's:

     - Cut

     - Clarity

     - Color

     - Carat-Weight

Cut :-

Cut Grade is the measurement of proportions of Diamonds.

Proportions Include :

     - Table %

     - Crown Height %
     - Pavilion Depth %
     - Pavilion Angle °
     - Crown Angle °
     - Total Depth %
     - Girdle Thickness %
Though This Is A Thing That Normal Clients Won't Get Idea About Easily.

For Customers Who Don't Know About Diamonds In Deep, The Cut Grade Goes Like

1 : Ideal Cut

2: Excellent Cut
3: Very Good Cut
4: Good Cut
5: Fair Cut
6: Poor Cut

Polish (Polishing Lines On Diamonds) & Symmetry(Shape/Roundness Of The Diamond) Are Also Graded The Same Way.

Excellent(X) & Very Good (VG) are my most recommended Cut Grade For Diamonds Used For Jewellery

Diamond With Cut , Polish & Symmetry As Excellent Are Often Know As XXX (Triple X) Diamond In A Jewellery Showroom.

Clarity :-

Clarity Grade is referred to the purity of the Diamond. Flawless Diamond is known as the Purest Diamond without any Inclusions visible even under a Microscope & going down towards Included Diamond has Inclusions Easily visible even through naked eyes.

Clarity Grade Is Divided Into :

     - Flawless : F

     - Internally Flawless : IF
     - Very Very Slightly Included : VVS - VVS1 & VVS2
      - Very Slightly Included : VS - VS1 & VS2
     - Slightly Included : SI - SI1 & SI2
     - Included : I - I1 ,I2 & I3

Clarity Grade For Diamonds To Be Studded In Jewellery, I Suggest - VVS - VVS1 & VVS2,VS - VS1 & VS2, SI1

Color :-

Color Grading is done on the basis of Colorless Diamonds to Colored Diamonds.Color range starts form : D to Z. Lesser the color higher the value of the Diamond.

Color Grading Can Be Done In The Following Manner :

D-E-F : Colorless

G-H-I-J : Near Colorless
K-L-M : Faint Yellow / Faint Brown
N-O-P-Q-R : Light Yellow / Light Brown
S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z : Yellow / Brown

Though This Grading is quite different when you see the Diamonds from J-Z. As from J the color is easily available and going towards M it gets totally Yellow & while grading at a standard lab O & rest are graded to be Fancy Colored Diamonds.

My Suggestion For Color Of Diamonds To Be Studded In Jewellery Is - D To H

Carat-Weight :-

Carat here means the weight of the Diamond & not the Purity of the Diamond. The "K"arat is used in Gold to determine the Purity of the Gold.

Reading The Carat Weight :

1.07 Carat : 1 Carat & 7 Cents OR 1 Carat & 7 Units

0.91 Carat : 91 Cents
14.22 Carat : 14 Carat & 22 Cents

For Carat, Just One Thing The Price Increases With Higher Carat & Same Specifications.
